Event Details
Silicon Dragon, a media and events organization covering innovation and investment hubs in Silicon Valleys around the world, is hosting a well-timed program, “Digital Entertainment Meets China Meets Tech,” on July 25th at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Silicon Dragon Los Angeles program, now in its 4th year, explores the city’s links to China as cross-border activities heighten. Alibaba, Tencent and Bytedance are investing in emerging tech and entertainment companies. As China looks west and Hollywood looks east, more Chinese and US companies are collaborating on content, production and digital entertainment.
Silicon Dragon’s LA program features a keynote chat with prominent Hollywood producer Janet Yang who has deep roots in China through investments from Tencent and Sequoia Capital and extensive credits that include “The Joy Luck Club” and “Empire of the Sun.” The program also includes a chat with content creators Joy Chen and Azel James, who are at the forefront of leveraging new platforms in China’s fast evolving media landscape such as short form video, livestreaming and WeChat blogs and mini-apps.
A panel of Hollywood-China dealmakers explores development, financing, production, marketing and distribution of entertainment content. Featured panelists are Perfect World Pictures CFO Michael Lee, former DMG Entertainment exec Chris Fenton, Han Pictures and Media Co. chairman John Liu, Wanda Studios head of international business development Sarah Platt, and East West Bank executive VP Bennett Pozil. The program turns to entertainment production opportunities in Asia with a panel of experts: Rick Ambros of Fox International Productions, prominent film producer John Penotti who started his career with legendary producer Sidney Lumet, Legacy Pictures partner and actor Cary Woodworth, and Broadvision Entertainment founder and producer Jean Su.
The conference also brings in a special LA twist with a panel focused on transit innovations with John Cole, CEO of revolutionary mobile transporter SkyTran, and former LeEco executive Eric Mika, now with electric vehicle startup Evelozcity in California.
Expecting to draw 200 participants, the forum includes a full program, VIP reception and after-event reception. The event brings together leaders from Chinese and American digital entertainment companies, tech innovators, venture capitalists, angel investors and the startup ecosystem for discussions about capitalizing on cross-border Chinese and digital entertainment and tech innovation opportunities. Participants will gain insights on how to make deals and raise financing, and develop strategies to succeed in China.
